FOR STRATEGIC COLLABORATIONS

Bastille Day, on July 14, is a chance for French people across the world to commemorate the Republic’s emblems and principles.

Liberté – Égalité – Fraternité

Liberty – Equality – Fraternity

The Hon. Consul General Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet (above right) celebrated the 14th of July, also known as the Bastille Day at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai and addressed the honourable guests by praising the dynamic and vibrant French Community based in the constituency of the Consulate that contributes positively to the strengthening of the Indo-French relations. He thanked the Indian guests for supporting France and encouraged them to come and explore France as investors, entrepreneurs, as businessmen and as individuals/tourists.

The “14 juillet” celebrations, France’s National Day, was an evening spent with friends. Not only did we celebrate 25 years of strategic relationship, but our “Experiential Zones” allowed guests to explore the variety of France. A true tribute to friendship.

“Thank you to each one of you who participated in our national day celebrations in #AapliMumbai ! It was amazing to witness the true warmth of relations through your presence at our “fête nationale” yesterday.” Hon. Consul General Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet.

This year 2023 is especially significant since it marks the 25th anniversary of President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s signing of the strategic alliance between France and India on Indian Republic Day in 1998 in New Delhi.
This is precisely why, this year, India is in the limelight in France, with PR Macron inviting PM Modi to be the guest of honour at France’s National Day celebrations.

This relationship covers all facets of Franco-Indian cooperation, including a strategic component. It is founded on tight collaboration in critical fields like as military, civil nuclear energy, and space. And, because this cooperation is not limited in scope and is relatively young, a significant component has lately been added: the Indo-Pacific. It suggests a high level of confidence between the two countries, as well as a shared willingness to work together on equal terms.

The Strategic partnership does encompass the complete Franco-Indian relationship, which has recently been strengthened by a collaboration for the planet on significant global concerns such as climate change, the environment, ocean conservation, and health. This is how France and India established the International Solar Alliance on the sidelines of COP21. Today, the Alliance’s reach covers the globe. We also collaborate closely on the blue economy and ocean governance.

Our businesses are likewise quite active, in both directions. More than 540 French firms and subsidiaries operate in India, employing almost 300,000 people. They form collaborations and make investments in crucial sectors for the future, such as sustainable energy, smart cities, innovative technology, and health.

Our partnership reflects the special trust and solidarity that have united France and India for 25 years and have proven their worth in both difficult and good times, as demonstrated during India’s presidency of the G20, which represents a tremendous opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and governance and in which India has demonstrated strong leadership.
The whole France team in Mumbai is entirely committed to strengthening our presence in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Various high dignitaries and high calibre guests were seen from Government Officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Corporate Board Members.

The event was followed by a luxurious and lavish French gastronomic delight with delicious cheese, avec wine et Laurent Perrier champagne, mouth-watering desserts, as all toasted to France.

The French National Day commemorates the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789. In France, celebrations are held throughout the country and this same ideal of universal humanism which still inspires those who believe in France, and in France in the Republic, to preserve these values of freedom, equality and brotherhood. The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe is held on the morning of 14th July, on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, along with other French officials and foreign guests.
