Located in the Soho area of the city of New York, San Carlo Osteria Piemonte is a hidden culinary treasure which delightfully inculcates in its customers a desire to be regulars after the first visit, and indeed we have frequented this restaurant several times in the past year.

Upon entry to the restaurant you are greeted at the door with a warm smile from Mirko, who graciously welcomes you to the establishment and ensures your comfort starts the minute your coats are taken and you are seated. The tables are spaced so as not to overcrowd, but at the same time to provide a view of the amazing options other guests have selected and are enjoying. The entire floor staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and preparation. The table has a soft candlelight to add to the ambiance and facilitate mental preparation in anticipation of the delicacies to come.

The menu showcases a taste of Rome with a variety of enticing choices, making final selections a pleasant challenge. Upon arrival, the plating of the dishes is pleasing to the eye and portends the gustatory pleasures ahead. On this night, the dishes we had included:
Tagliatelle All’astice E Pomodorini (Homemade Tagliatelle With Lobster, Cherry Tomatoes and a creamy lobster bisque); Agnolotti Del Plin Al Sugo Di Arrosto (a slow cooked homemade braised meat ravioli in demi-glace and butter sauce); and Spaghettoni Al Nero Di Seppia Con Alici Burro E Pane Croccante (Homemade Thick Squid Inked Spaghetti with anchovies, butter and breadcrumbs), my wife’s favorite.

The desserts captured the beauty of Italy with ambrosial treats that included:
Tiramisu; a trio of velvety smooth sorbets; Sbriciolata Alla Nutella (Nutella tart); and, one of my favorites, Panna Cotta Ai Lamponi (Raspberry panna cotta). AMAZING!

Thanks to all of you at San Carlo Osteria Piemonte, and especially Mirko, for a great and memorable evening with family.

Grazie!
